Terms of service
These terms cover your use of shopmate, a grocery delivery service in Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur that works over WhatsApp. By ordering from us or signing up as a driver, you agree to them.
How shopmate works
You send us your shopping list on WhatsApp as a text or a voice note. We read it back to you, and once you confirm, we offer your order to the nearest available driver. The driver buys your items at a nearby shop and brings them to your door.
Ordering
- Your order is placed when you tap Confirm on the summary we send you. Please check the list and address before confirming.
- When a driver accepts, we send you their name and number. You can talk to them directly about your order.
- Your driver will call you before buying. If something isn't available, they'll ask you what to get instead.
- If no driver is free, we'll let you know and you can try again later.
Prices and payment
- You pay the shop price for your items plus a flat delivery fee, currently NPR 120.
- You pay the driver in cash when they arrive. Ask for the shop receipt if you'd like to check the prices.
- We may change the delivery fee. The fee shown in your order summary is the one that applies to that order.
Changes and cancellations
Before you confirm, you can change your order as often as you like. After a driver accepts, contact your driver directly to change or cancel. If the driver has already bought your items, please pay for them.
Your part
- Give an address the driver can find, and be available to answer their call.
- Only order things you can legally buy, and treat drivers with respect.
- We may stop serving anyone who repeatedly cancels after items are bought, refuses to pay or misuses the service.
Drivers
- Drivers are independent contractors, not employees of shopmate. They sign up on WhatsApp and are approved by us before they get any orders.
- Drivers buy items with their own money, are paid by the customer on delivery, and keep the delivery fee.
- Drivers must be at least 18, hold a valid licence for their vehicle, and follow traffic laws.
- Drivers choose when they work by sending on and off, and can decline any order.
Our service
We work hard to find you a driver quickly, but we can't promise one will always be available or give exact delivery times. Shops set their own prices and stock. If something goes wrong with an order, message us and we'll help sort it out.
Privacy
How we handle your information is explained in our privacy policy.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll change the date at the top of this page.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Nepal.
